Since the weekend typically isn’t strictly packed with appointments, we get some time to relax and enjoy some downtime. As of now the plan is to post a weekend summary versus a daily update.

Friday morning Taylor was back in the kitchen cooking French Toast for our OT and myself. French Toast was a little bit different than pancakes. There are a few more steps than add water and shake. He had to master cracking eggs, adding various ingredients, stirring, flipping…the whole nine yards! Let’s just say Anne Marie (his OT) and I were enjoying conversation and a coffee as Taylor slaved away over the stove.

Delicous breakfast! Now onto PT. We are trying to incorporate more lifting into his physical therapy. This way his muscules continue to build strength allowing him to increase the capablities the legs were designed to accomplish. Having strong leg muscles will help tremedously while working on walking up/down stairs.

THIS WEEKEND WE MET BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN!! We went to an amazing concert at the Nationals stadium. He can rock out with the best of em’ Bruce did not have any opener, zero breaks, and killed it for over 3.5 hours! To say it mildly he puts on an awesome show! He came out before the concert, talked to us, signed an autograph, and exchanged contact information with us. He wanted to extend an offer to have us come to any show that is close to us. Then during the show he gave a shout out to Taylor and a few of the other wounded warriors. As we were walking back to the vehicles we happened to run into him again. I’m sure he was exhausted after the extensive performance since it was only minutes after leaving the stage but he stuck around and chatted with Taylor and myself about the concert. It was a fun night with perfect weather and great music!!

MEETING BRUCE WAS AWESOME!

BEAUTIFUL NIGHT!

The rest of the weekend was spent checking out the National Firearm Musuem with friends who came into town, grabbing dinner and drinks with another couple, taking my cousin whom is a freshman at the university in town around to run some errands and get lunch on campus, and taking it easy. Tomorrow it is back to the gym for us!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Just stumbled upon your story… As a mother with 3 sons who might one day serve our country, I found your story particularly inspirational and touching! Your community is a special one and is what every person wishes for when raising children. It also makes me feel proud to live in the USA and reminds me that freedom comes at a high cost (freedom is not free). I donated via your website to help get you re-started. You look fantastic, btw! Keep up the good work. Uh oh! that reminds me, I need to get my booty into the gym, like now! 🙂
