This weekend Taylor and I had to divide and conquer. I headed to Des Moines to visit my college friends! We had so much fun watching our friend Dustin Smith’s band preform and running amuck around the town.

The following morning, I was back on the road to Iowa City. I was already missing my nephews from Christmas time.

While I was gone Taylor got restless. He and his friends had a genius idea to assemble Taylor with all of his prosthetics and take it to the snow covered roads for some drifting experimenting. After a few runs they decided to go all in, strapping his left foot to the clutch… there was no going back now. Being the safe consciences guys that they obviously are, they developed a safe word for times of emergency. When the safe word was screamed the passenger would throw the stick to neutral and pull the e-brake and hold on for dear life! The safe word had to be used multiple times to save the out of control vehicle. Taylor admitted he was able to do a lot more than he thought he would be able to but he also admitted he was terrified at times. All the other boys seconded that!! I knew nothing about this excursion until after the fact when they called me telling me about all four of them in the car screaming like little girls during Taylor’s first drift. They went on to tell me that not all runs were successful some entailed slamming into snow banks or when he got his legs wedged under the steering wheel, pinning the gas pedal to the floor. Thank God they called me after the fact so I didn’t have to worry about all the possible things that could have gone wrong. After seeing the video, I am not mad at all, only envious I wasn’t there to participate!! CHECK IT OUT

I found Taylor Morris website while surfing. I have military men in my family and I am so proud of them. I thought Taylor’s story of service and survival is truly inspiring. I pray that he will continue his journey through life with his family and friends as his support system. What a great girl Danielle is, I know because I was a caretaker for over 20 years. Stay strong and take each day and challenge one by one.
