Surgery restricted 3 of Taylor’s 4 limbs from prosthetics but that doesn’t mean those 3 limbs can’t get a workout.

Today in OT, our therapist hooked Taylor’s left nub up to probes. The probes were connected to both his bicep and tricep, which measured the strength of his muscle contractions. This is an important exercise because it is crucial to continue firing the receptors in the muscles. By keeping the muscle tone and endurance up will keep the opportunities open for Taylor. The opportunity to be able to signal movement with a myo-electric prosthetic by flexing his bicep or tricep. Any exercise to avoid the muscles from deteriorating will allow Taylor to be good candidate for any future research developments, such as a hand/arm transplant. There is so much research going on, it is important to keep on top of your game to keep every opportunity open.
